S350 HVAC Contractors must take 3 hours (of their 6 hours of CE) which is directly related to the installation, repair, or replacement of a heating, ventilation, or air conditioning system. These three hours are Core hours required by the state.
S330 (Landscape and Recreation) and S410 (Boiler, Pipeline, Waste Water, and Water Conditioner) licensees that actively work with and install backflow prevention devices may have additional CE required as well.

Determine whether your license is up for renewal. Contractors with license numbers ending in '-5501' renew in odd years. You should receive an email from DOPL as a reminder.
Choose from our online, webinar, or in-person course options. All courses are DOPL-approved and meet core credit requirements. Classes typically open in the fall before the renewal deadline.
Finish your 6 hours of continuing education. We report your completion directly to DOPL, so there's no extra paperwork on your end.
Once your hours are complete, visit the DOPL website to finalize your license renewal before the November 30th deadline. You'll need to pay the state renewal fee directly to DOPL.

Yes, everyone that holds a contractor license in the state of Utah is obligated to complete 6 hours of continuing education each licensing period (every odd year). We offer a variety of courses including safety training, project management, and technical skills development.
You must complete a total of 6 continuing education hours. A minimum of three of these hours must be classified as "core credits." All of our classes are guaranteed to give you the required 3 hours of core.

All contractors in the state of Utah are required to renew their license before November 30th of odd-numbered years. If your license number ends in a '-5501' you are required to renew this cycle.
If you miss the renewal deadline, your license will expire and you will not be legally permitted to perform contracting work. Reinstating an expired license may require additional fees, paperwork, and potentially retaking exams. It's always best to renew well before the deadline.
You'll need to complete your 6 hours of approved continuing education, then visit the DOPL website to submit your renewal and pay the state renewal fee. We report your CE completion directly to DOPL, so your hours should appear automatically in their system.

DOPL sends renewal reminders via email, but not receiving one does not exempt you from the renewal requirement. Check that your contact information is current with DOPL, and verify your renewal status directly on their website. When in doubt, contact us — we can help you figure out whether you need to renew.
The DOPL renewal portal will ask you to confirm that you've completed your required continuing education hours. As long as you've finished your classes with us, you can confirm that your hours are complete — we report directly to DOPL on your behalf.
There can sometimes be a short delay between completing a course and the hours appearing in the DOPL system. If it's been more than a few business days, please call us at 801-274-3551 and we'll verify your records and get it sorted out.
